Hepatitis A Outbreak Has Hit Kentucky

The current number of identified cases of Hepatitis A in the state of Kentucky has been confirmed to be 311 since January 1, 2018 and has caused 218 hospitalizations.

  • Diarrhea
  • Nausea or vomiting

  • Twitching

  • Yellowing of the skin and or eyes

How is it Transmitted?

Hepatitis A is known as a liver disease and it can be transmitted through eating contaminated food or drinking a contaminated water source. In most cases it will clear up on its own after one or two months, but you should still seek medical treatment if you suspect you have contracted this illness due to the chance of it being potentially fatal.
